Experience a proper British Tea...and a table laden with lunch delicacies

Vermont’s own Queen of Scots, Lillian Sheren will inform and entertain you with her demonstration of how to prepare a proper British tea. Come and experience this fine tradition and enjoy a unique lunch buffet of hot soup, a heavily laden table with a variety of finger sandwiches, and an incredible array of desserts all served with the best cup of tea that you have ever experienced. Everything is lovingly home made by Lillian from the finest ingredients.

LET'S COOK UP A DAY TRIP: 

Be sure to bring along your appetite. Holiday Inn Rutland/Killington in Rutland, Vermont has world-class chefs who will teach you how to prepare the delicious lunch that will be served following your class.

Through suspended mirrors, your group will watch the chef’s hands as they deomonstrate how to prepare the delicious dishes you will be enjoying for lunch.

A traditional, homemade Vermont luncheon menu will be served.

HARVEST TIME:

Available from Late October to Late December

Arrival at the Mendon Mountain Orchards & Cider Mill for a tour of a small family-owned and operated “barn factory”. Learn how apples are sorted, washed, peeled, sliced, packed, and stored at one of Vermont’s oldest working orchards. Sample a free cup of fresh apple cider and enjoy an apple turnover. The farm store features “the best” homemade apple pies that can be ordered fresh baked after the tour and picked up on your way home or delivered to the hotel.

Arrival at the Holiday Inn Rutland/Killington with a greeting from your host. Lunch will begin with a demonstration on how to prepare the Harvest Feast. Our skilled chefs will show you the secrets of how they prepare the holiday dinners that we are renowned for. After the demonstration our staff will serve you a luncheon featuring Vermont products from the autumn harvest.

After lunch you will depart for home. Don’t forget to pick up your fresh baked apple pie.

VERMONT MAPLE:

Lunch begins with a cooking demonstration and ends with a traditional Vermont dessert.

Next it’s a trip through Vermont’s famous maple industry at the New England Maple Museum. In addition to the largest collection of maple sugaring artifacts in existence, the museum features many displays, syrup and sugar making demonstrations, a slide show of the entire process – sap to syrup, and samples of Vermont’s best syrup. The gift shop sells state crafts, food and maple products. This will take about 1 hour, then it’s off to the “Vermont Marble Museum” where you will discover the world of Vermont Marble and get a chance to use the number one restroom in USA as voted by America's Best Restroom. There you will find the WORLD’S LARGEST MARBLE MUSEUM dedicated to this unique and enduring material. Quarried in the Green Mountains, Vermont Marble has been used in buildings and monuments around the world.

Your Vermont visit is complete and you will head back home with knowledge of how Maple Syrup is made and enjoyed.
